Honestly, yeah, there are actually some Nigerian universities accepting low JAMB scores right now. Like I've seen friends who scored just around 140 or 150 get offers from universities like Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Federal University Dutse, and Plateau State University. Some departments in these schools take scores as low as 140, especially if you don't go for the most popular courses. Private schools like Bells and Igbinedion even care less about super high JAMB scores, but the fees can be wild in those places.
Back when my cousin got 145 in JAMB last year, he was all gloomy but he still got into KSUSTA for a tech course. He just made sure to target schools and courses with a lower cut-off, not the big names like UI or UNILAG.
So yeah, it's not a myth. You just need to check out each university's 2025 cut-off list, see which ones work with your score, and move fast because a lot of people are thinking this way this year. I always tell my friends, don't give up just because your score isn't 200+! There's literally a spot for almost everyone if you're open minded.
