Honestly, after reading about Burundi, it's hard for me to call that real democracy. I mean, if one party wins all the seats and the opposition barely gets any votes, that doesn't sound like a real battle of ideas. Especially if the opposition and groups like Human Rights Watch say it's rigged or people were intimidated.

I remember hearing about elections where people couldn't even vote safely or where only one group gets to run things. That's not how I picture democracy. For me, a real democracy means people can vote for who they want without worrying, and different parties actually have a chance.

Even if officials or outside groups say the election looked peaceful, if people can't trust the vote, then what's the point? It's like calling something chocolate cake when it's really just brown bread. I guess sometimes leaders just want to say they're democratic to look good, but if no one really gets a choice, then it's just for show. I hope people in Burundi get a real shot at picking who leads them someday.
