I honestly think there's a good and bad side to alex otti being so loaded. Like, on one hand, his massive net worth – something like $1.5 billion! – means he doesn't have to be bribed to get things done, which is actually kinda refreshing in Nigerian politics. Someone that rich probably isn't in office just for the money, so maybe he really does care about making a difference.
But on the flip side, I totally get why people think he's controversial. I mean, when you're that wealthy, people always question where your money came from or if you're just using power to protect your own interests. Sometimes people see him as out of touch with regular folks too. I've heard family members debate whether someone like him could really understand normal people's problems since he's been rich for so long.
So yeah, his money gives him confidence and freedom that a lot of politicians just don't have, but it also puts a big target on his back. It's a bit of both, honestly. If he wants people to trust him, I guess Otti has to show that he's not just another rich guy looking out for himself. It's a super tough spot to be in.
