So, this is something a lot of people in Kuwait actually talk about, especially anyone who's been around the army camps or tries to do business near them. From what I've seen and heard, the U.S. Army's Area Support Group brings a bunch of jobs and contracts for local companies, like food, cleaning, transport, and even stuff for the bases themselves. My cousin actually scored a job working with a cleaning service that handled on-base facilities, and he says it paid way better than most local gigs. But not everyone is thrilled. Some small businesses say that the army has strict rules, and competing for contracts can be a pain for regular Kuwaiti businesses because you need a lot of paperwork and approvals. Plus, expats sometimes find it hard to work on base since there’s so much security. Still, at the end of the day, there's definitely a boost to the local economy, just maybe not as much for small, regular shops as for bigger companies that know how to handle all the red tape.
