Personally, I totally get why everyone’s asking if Akwa Ibom people will really gain anything from the governor switching to APC. Like, on paper, he said this move is supposed to help Akwa Ibom get more development since now he’s in the same party as the president. There’s that whole thing about it being easier for the state to get projects approved if you’re tight with Abuja, and I remember folks talking about more funds coming in after the subsidy was removed.

But here’s the thing: politicians always make big promises when they change sides, but it doesn’t always show up in our daily lives. I’ve seen lots of party switching in Nigeria, and the hype about more benefits doesn’t always match up with reality. Sometimes, it’s just the politicians and their crew who get the perks, not the regular people. Still, maybe his connections will pull in more federal projects or jobs for youths—if he actually follows through. So, fingers crossed, but I’m not holding my breath unless I really see some changes in power, roads, or jobs. That’ll be the real test for everyone who lives here.
