Yeah, the weather in Mauritius can definitely mess up your school and work plans sometimes. During cyclone season or really heavy rain, it’s pretty common for schools to close for a few days. I remember missing a whole week of classes because a cyclone was supposed to hit but then it just rained hard for days. A lot of my friends’ parents couldn’t make it to work either, especially if they use buses or live in areas that flood.
But honestly, most people are so used to it that they don’t panic. The Mauritius Meteorological Services is always updating everyone, so people plan around it the best they can. I’ve heard some schools will try to do stuff online now if storms are really bad, but not everyone has good WiFi at home. For jobs like restaurant or resort work, bosses usually understand and either cancel shifts or get the people who live closest to cover. So yeah, the weather’s a pain but everyone just deals with it. Kinda just part of life if you live on an island like this.
