How come big world groups like the UN or FAO get to decide rules about food or sports for everyone, and nobody seems to ask what normal people actually want

This is something that’s bugged me for a while. It feels like all these world organizations, like the UN or FAO, are just a bunch of bigwigs making rules that end up affecting everyone, but nobody knocks on my door or talks to people in my school about what we actually need or want. I remember watching a video where some farmer was mad because new food safety laws made it hard for him to sell his veggies, and he never even got to say his side before the rules changed.

I guess the reason is because it’s way easier for governments or experts to talk to each other than to ask every single person. It makes things run faster, but it also means regular people sometimes get ignored. That’s why protests pop up, or why people use social media to try and get their voices heard when world organizations mess up.

I wish there was an easy way for teens like me or just, like, anyone, to vote or send comments before these big decisions are made. Otherwise, it kind of feels like these world rules just happen to us, not with us. That’s honestly how I see it!
