This is one of those things I'm always amazed by. Macron, who’s literally the president of France, goes to Vietnam for official meetings and business. But instead of people talking about the important stuff, like that big deal with VietJet ordering planes, everyone’s obsessed with this random airport moment with his wife. I’ve seen this happen when politicians do anything remotely funny, weird, or even just like, normal family stuff. The second it gets caught on camera, it just turns into fodder for memes and entertainment news.
I think it’s because people are kind of tired of serious news and want something lighter to talk about – and when a world leader does something even a little bit out of the ordinary, it makes them seem more like regular people or even celebrities. I’ve definitely watched a ton of these clips just for the laughs. In my opinion, it’s wild how quickly the internet can turn anything into joke material, no matter how important the original event was supposed to be. That's just how entertainment works now, and honestly, sometimes it makes world news way more interesting.
