I get why people might think YES is just recycling the past by playing Fragile in full during their 2025 tour. But honestly, I don’t think that’s really the case. Sure, a lot of old-school fans love hearing the classics, but there are always tons of younger people in the crowd, especially now with social media and streaming. Some of my friends found YES through TikTok because their songs pop up in throwback trends or memes.
The band still sounds super fresh live, and the visuals with Roger Dean’s artwork add a new-school touch, especially since they’re using AI to remix it. Also, by playing these iconic records, they introduce generations who never got to hear them live to the kind of crazy, complex music that made prog rock a thing.
So yeah, they do dig into the past, but fans (young and old) still connect with it in new ways. I think YES has figured out how to stay relevant without totally ditching what made them huge in the first place. Pretty cool!
