Okay, so the government recovered 753 houses in Abuja from Emefiele and now they set up this 12-man committee to figure out what to do with them. The plan is to check if the buildings are safe, see how much they're worth, and come up with a way to sell or give them to Nigerians through some "Renewed Hope" housing portal. They want to make it fair and transparent, but honestly, I've seen stuff like this before where it just goes to people with connections.
Supposedly, they're supposed to report back in four weeks about how to do it, but I'm not holding my breath that average Nigerians will even know how to apply. In my experience, the people who really need the houses are the last to get them, unless someone in government makes a real effort to be honest. It’d be so cool if these houses actually went to regular families who struggle with rent. I’ll be watching this one because it could be pretty awesome if they don't mess it up!
