Honestly, I think the reason stories like the Skara Cannibal get so much attention in documentaries and shows is because people are obsessed with understanding the darkest stuff that humans can do. I've seen so many friends binge-watch true crime, and we end up talking about what makes someone like Isakin Jonsson do what he did. There’s this weird thing where the scarier and more shocking the story, the more we want to know every little detail.
It’s also kinda wild how entertainment shows take such awful real events and turn them into something you can’t look away from, almost like a scary movie but it’s real. The Skara Cannibal isn’t just another crime—there’s all the drama with his daughter, Jamie-Lee Arrow, reconnecting with him and talking about what happened. That adds this whole personal side that makes it feel like you’re part of the story, not just watching from the outside.
So yeah, I think these shows take off because they’re not just about the crime, they’re about real people and how they deal with it. People love seeing how survivors pick up the pieces after something horrible. It gives some hope, too, which balances out all the scary stuff.
