Yeah, this whole Kevin Costner Horizon mess is wild. I think the main reason he's having so many problems is because he put a ton of his own money and time into making these movies, but they're just not bringing in enough cash. I've seen numbers that the first Horizon movie barely made a third of what it cost to produce. That's gotta hurt.
From what I've read, there are a bunch of lawsuits piling up. One's about $350,000 in unpaid costume rentals, and another is from a stunt performer who says they were treated unfairly. On top of that, New Line Cinema, the people who helped with the money, are fighting over co-financing stuff. It's like every part of the project is becoming a headache for him.
I actually respect that Costner tried so hard to make his vision happen—he apparently even skipped his own salary to fund it. But maybe he took on too much. If the movies don't hit with audiences, it's really hard to make back what you spent, nevermind deal with all the other drama. I honestly hope he pulls through, though. It'd be cool to see someone succeed off their own crazy idea for once.
