Why does Rick and Morty season 8 on Adult Swim feel like such a big change compared to earlier seasons? Did something behind the scenes cause the show to shift in style or tone this year?

I totally get what you mean, honestly. Watching adult swim Rick and Morty season 8, I was a bit caught off guard too because it just feels different, you know? The thing is, a lot actually changed behind the scenes, starting with the whole voice actor shakeup. After all the drama with Justin Roiland a couple years ago, season 7 already introduced new voices for both Rick and Morty, but I think season 8 is where they really started doing their own thing and moving on from how Roiland played the characters.

Also, I feel like the writers are pushing harder on giving the supporting characters more screentime and making the stories just a bit more out there than before. Even the humor and animation style got tweaked – like the whole Matrix sim thing in the first episode where Summer spends 17 years as a tech CEO was kinda wild. It's like they're not scared to get weirder and try stuff they've never done. I sort of respect that, but I admit I miss the old vibe sometimes. Still, it's cool seeing them experiment and not just play it safe! Man, I guess every long-running show has to switch it up eventually, right?
