Honestly, it's kinda wild to see Ari Aster, the dude who's known for movies like Hereditary and Midsommar, go for a modern western like Eddington and put it smack in the middle of the COVID-19 mess. I think he wanted to try something way different and use the western vibes to show how people get all paranoid and mad when they're cooped up together, especially in a small town. Westerns usually have that whole showdown thing, but instead of cowboys and outlaws, it's like people freaking out about masks, politics, and tech stuff in Eddington.
For me, it's actually refreshing, even if it makes the movie kind of stressful to watch. It feels super real, because everyone was dealing with the same chaos during the pandemic. It’s less horses and more conspiracy nuts! If you're into movies that mess with you and make you think about the world, I get why Aster tried this. Even if it's weird, I respect him for just going for it and not playing it safe. But I’ll be honest, it’s not your typical western at all!
