Totally feels like it. I’ve been watching TV shows get cut way sooner than they used to, and Wheel of Time being canceled after only three seasons kind of proves it. I think streamers care more about instant big hits and subscriber numbers now, so they’d rather gamble on something flashy and quick instead of sticking with slow-burn stories. It’s actually super frustrating for fans of books and fantasy series that need more time to build up all the characters and worlds—like, that's the whole point! I remember people saying Game of Thrones was good partly because HBO gave it time to get massive. I guess with Wheel of Time, they just didn’t want to wait around for it to become the next big thing. I hope TV goes back to giving big stories more time, because there's nothing worse than getting invested and then having it all stop out of nowhere. Fans deserve better, for real.
