Why do people in Ada County care so much about their political party, and could it actually make things more divided in Boise rather than helping everyone get along?

Honestly, I think a lot of people in Ada County care deeply about their political party because it gives them a sense of belonging, sort of like being part of a big team. I've noticed that especially around elections or big events like the Boise Fourth of July parade, people get super hyped to show off their party's values. Sometimes, it feels like wearing team colors at a football game—everyone cheering and trying to prove theirs is best.

But honestly, I've also seen this make things kind of rough between neighbors or even in families. I remember this one time someone on my street put up a sign for a party and, like, overnight all their neighbors put up the opposite party's signs. It was funny at first, but then people started arguing at the mailbox.

So, yeah, while being involved in a political party in Ada can make you feel included, sometimes it does make the community a lot more divided than united. People get caught up rooting for their side and forget we all live in the same place, which can lead to arguments and not much actual progress. Still, I get why people are proud to stand up for what they believe.
