Honestly, after watching Mamelodi Sundowns vs Dortmund, I think this match totally flipped some people's assumptions on their heads. Like, everyone always acts like European teams are untouchable and African clubs are just there to make up the numbers. But seeing Sundowns go toe-to-toe with Dortmund and only lose 4-3, that was wild.

Ribeiro's solo goal for Sundowns was sick, legit one of the best goals of the Club World Cup so far. And even when they went down 4-1, they came back with Rayners and Mothiba almost getting the draw at the end. You could tell Dortmund were sweating, especially with how their defense messed up in the last minutes.

I honestly feel like African clubs are a lot closer to the big European sides than people give them credit for. Sure, Dortmund won, but Sundowns were fast, brave, and not afraid to attack. It kinda reminds me of when Morocco made that crazy World Cup run in 2022 and shocked everyone. So yeah, this match proves African clubs can seriously compete and make things interesting, even if the big clubs still have the edge.
