Do a lot of people really do fasting like the Esther fast as part of their prayer for new month, or is it just something really religious people do?

Oh, fasting during the new month? My grandma used to talk about Esther fasts all the time, but I don't think everyone goes that hard. The Esther fast is super intense—no food or drink for hours or even days. Some people in my church do a fast from 6am to 6pm at the start of every new month, but I'd say that's mostly for really serious or religious types. My friend is breastfeeding and tries to do the lighter version, but honestly, most teens or young adults I know just stick to short prayers or even skip it. Fasting is really personal, and a lot of people feel it's powerful for a fresh start, while others just can't or don't want to. I'd say unless you're super religious or your family expects it, most folks don't fast every new month—they just pray or send messages and call it good.
