This is something I always wondered about because Ahmadu Bello University started mainly to serve Northern Nigeria, right? But over the years, it's become super diverse. My roommate at ABU was from the south, and he never felt left out compared to others. But to be honest, I've heard a few people complain that sometimes it feels like northerners get more opportunities, mostly with stuff like scholarships or some student government positions. That might just be people's opinions, but overall, ABU tries to include everyone. There are students from every part of the country, and, if anything, the campus vibe is more mixed than a lot of other schools. People celebrate all kinds of cultures, and I actually learned some Hausa from my friends. Sure, there's still little cliques, and sometimes state of origin matters for admission cutoffs or if you want to join certain clubs, but nothing too crazy. If you're worried about making friends or fitting in, ABU's actually better than you think. Just be open, and you'll find your people quickly!
