Okay, so the way these inmates escaped from the New Orleans jail is honestly wild. Apparently, they pulled a broken sliding cell door off, tore a toilet and sink thing out to make a hole in the wall, and managed to get into a loading dock area. Then they literally scaled the wall and ran right across the highway. I can't even imagine how they thought all that up or had the guts to do it. What really gets me is the security stuff. There were already complaints about how the jail needed new locks and better doors but nobody wanted to pay for it (like, $5.2 million worth). On top of that, some jail staff probably helped since the breakout was so complicated. Like, how does nobody notice ten inmates missing till a headcount the next morning?

Honestly, I've always thought jail escapes were just movie stuff but hearing that stuff like this actually happens makes me question every "secure" jail. If a high-security jail in New Orleans lets out ten people charged with murder and robbery, how many other jails are just as unlucky and underfunded? Security clearly isn't as tight as people like to think, and staffing issues make it all worse. It seriously proves you can't just trust the building to keep dangerous people inside.
