Honestly, I think it’s gonna mess with the vibe a lot, at least for a while. Pimlico’s got this gritty, historic mood that makes going to the Preakness way more than just watching horses run in circles. When I went with my cousin two years ago, the energy was nuts—people play all sorts of games, bet, hang out on the infield, do these wild contests, and act like it’s one giant party. That old track just adds to it, you know?
Now with them tearing it down after Preakness 2025, sure, the new place will probably look cleaner and maybe have better food and tech. But a lot of what made the experience awesome, like the traditions and just how raw the place feels, could get lost. People are split on whether new means better. I’m worried it’ll turn into just another fancy event instead of staying a totally unique, hype game day. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if it still feels like the same Preakness or not.
