Yeah, I honestly think all the media coverage around the Skara Cannibal made things way tougher for Jamie-Lee Arrow. Imagine trying to get past something totally horrible, and then every time you turn on the TV or check your phone, there’s your dad’s face and those gross details all over again. She even said herself it was really hard to heal because people would keep bringing it up, especially when new documentaries came out.

One thing that stuck with me is how Jamie-Lee actually used the attention in a positive way, though. Instead of letting it totally wreck her, she started talking openly about her own struggles. She’s pretty brave, honestly, sharing her story about addiction and depression after all that trauma. She wants people to know it’s possible to get better, even if you’ve got massive problems hanging over you.

It sucks that true crime has sort of made her family’s misery into entertainment, but at least she got some control back by telling the story herself. That’s probably helped her move forward and stopped people from making up stuff about her life.
