To me, this whole blow-up between Lere Olayinka and the Arise TV anchors, especially with all the personal insults and wild allegations, just made political talk in Nigeria look way less serious. When I watched clips of their argument, I honestly felt like they were more focused on winning the drama than actually talking about real issues or facts.
I've talked to friends, and a lot of us kinda laughed but also felt let down because these are the people who are supposed to hold politicians accountable. Instead, it turned into a reality show. Now, when someone brings up Arise TV or political debates, people are like, "Is this even for real?" instead of taking it seriously. I think, after this, folks are even more skeptical about media being honest or fair, which is a big problem if we ever want better politics in Nigeria.
From my own experience, after seeing stuff like this, I'm more likely to fact-check whatever I hear, even from official-sounding people. Political commentary shouldn't be this much about personal beefs, but that's what it's turning into, and everyone's noticing.
