Honestly, I think the Lagos bridge closure traffic diversion is going to be a big headache for a lot of local businesses. I've seen what happens when roads get blocked—my cousin runs a food delivery service, and whenever there's a serious traffic diversion, his drivers get stuck, deliveries are late, and customers get mad or cancel. Stuff like this just means fewer customers and more complaints.
Some small stores or restaurants near the bridge will probably notice way less foot traffic, so they’ll make less money for sure. Even the guys running transport—like keke and okada riders—are going to struggle with detours and longer wait times. Everyone spends more on petrol and wastes time in traffic, and honestly, no one likes being late or stuck in jams for hours.
That said, some smart businesses might do better if they’re near the alternative routes. People always find shortcuts and new places to grab food or shop. But for most, this closure just feels like an extra problem to stress about for 110 days! If I had a business there, I’d definitely be worried and looking for ways to keep my regulars happy while everything’s all messed up.
