Honestly, this is a question I've heard a lot lately. People think it's kinda risky, but it makes sense too. From what I've read, bringing in people like ahmed al-sharaa, who used to be insurgents, might actually help things chill out more in the long run. I've seen stuff in the news about former rebels being way better at getting their old supporters to dial down the drama, like they have legit street cred.

I get it, some folks are worried you're rewarding bad behavior or setting a new standard. But I've always thought, if you're serious about ending a fight, you gotta talk to the people who were actually in it, not just the folks sitting in fancy offices. Maybe people like al-sharaa can hold other rebels in check, or at least help make peace feel real to people who weren't listening to "official" politicians. That happens more than you think. My opinion? Sometimes you gotta try unexpected stuff if you want a shot at peace, even if it's not perfect.
