So, the whole monopoly thing about MultiChoice Nigeria kinda got tossed around during the court hearing, but the judge didn't buy it. You see, the FCCPC tried to play the market dominance card, arguing that because MultiChoice controls DStv and GOtv, they had too much power.

But, in this free market setup, there are other pay TV and digital platforms, like YouTube, so it's not like they're the only player on the field. The judge even emphasized that it's not a monopoly situation; people still have choices.

To me, it sounds like MultiChoice is just one big fish in a not-so-small pond. Sure, they've got a big presence, but folks can always switch to other services if they want. The court basically said it’s cool for MultiChoice to do their price thing unless it affects the whole economy, and the President decides to step in. So, in this deal, competition's still there, and everyone has options.
