If you ask me, based on the most recent stuff scientists are saying, I’d be pretty worried about taurine and blood cancer together. Taurine is in a lot of energy drinks and even some foods, and honestly, I’d never really thought about it being dangerous before. But now researchers are warning that leukemia cells use taurine to grow, so if you already have blood cancer, slamming energy drinks or eating tons of taurine-rich stuff could be a real problem.

I remember when my cousin was sick, we had to check the labels on everything she ate or drank, and I definitely would’ve paid more attention to taurine if I’d known this back then. Some docs are saying we shouldn’t panic, since this is all pretty new research, but they do recommend talking to your doctor before having a lot of taurine if you have blood cancer. There’s always a ton of stuff you never think matters, then a study like this comes out and makes you rethink everything. If you know anyone dealing with leukemia, probably best to cut back on taurine until docs say otherwise, just to be safe.
