I've honestly gone back and forth about this because some say President Tinubu totally saved Rivers State from becoming a disaster with that emergency rule. But, if you look closer, others are saying he was mainly trying to help his party, the APC, get more control there. There's even stuff about him pressuring Governor Fubara really hard to join the APC while basically shutting down opposition voices.

In my experience, when politics gets this crazy, there's usually something bigger going on behind the scenes. Tinubu's move brought some peace, but it also made Fubara and the state assembly lose a ton of independence. Plus, people are still arguing about whether this was legal or just a sneaky way to get ready for the 2027 elections.

I think it's pretty clear that both things can be true at once – yes, maybe he stopped things from getting totally out of hand, but also, it made the APC look stronger in the end. Sometimes in politics, so-called "good deeds" aren't just about helping people; they're about the next election, too. It feels a little sketchy to me, honestly. But I guess only time will tell what really comes out of all this.
