Totally, Justice Uwais had his own style. From what I’ve heard, he wasn’t just focused on the day-to-day job, but tried to leave a bigger legacy. For example, he actually encouraged more public transparency and tried to make sure the courts talked about fairness, not just legal technicalities.
My uncle, who’s obsessed with Nigerian court history, always says Uwais acted more like a bridge between government, the courts, and ordinary people. He didn’t just rule on cases—he pushed for open talk about how elections should run, and made people feel like judges could care about democracy, not just laws. That’s pretty different from Chief Justices who mostly stay behind the scenes and just sign paperwork. I think a lot of students and lawyers looked up to him because he seemed honest too. There’s something cool about someone who doesn’t just follow the usual routine, right? Justice Uwais totally seemed like that kind of leader to me.
