Yeah, so honestly, whenever politicians like Ganduje quit and just blame it on "health reasons," I always feel a bit skeptical. I mean, I’m not saying people can’t get sick, but this always happens when there’s drama. From what I’ve read and heard from chatting with my uncle who follows Nigerian politics, Ganduje was under huge pressure inside APC, especially from folks who didn’t want someone from Kano still running things. There were also stories about corruption and fighting with other party leaders.
I’m not surprised some people think the real reason Ganduje resigned was to avoid being pushed out or maybe even because the president asked him to go. If you see that his stuff was getting moved out of the office before he even made it official, it kind of suggests it wasn’t just about his health. Plus, the party is gearing up for the next big elections, so maybe they wanted someone else to help unify things. So, even though Ganduje said it was for his well-being, I think politics was a huge part of it. Nothing about Nigerian politics is ever simple! If you ask me, it was probably a bit of both: health and a lot of political pressure.
