I’ve followed Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a while, and honestly, he’s got a pretty strong rep for being a big economic reform guy. He always talks about making the government work better, growing jobs, and letting private businesses do their thing with less hassle. When he was governor of Lagos, a lot of people say he made the city work better, like with transportation and taxes, but obviously, not everyone agrees on how awesome it actually turned out.
Since he became president, people have been keeping score on whether he’s sticking to his big promises. From what my friends and family say, he’s tried to keep some of his word, like removing fuel subsidies (which was supposed to help the economy but made fuel prices go up and a lot of people unhappy). For me, it’s kind of a mix: he goes hard on some issues, but other promises, like fighting corruption, still feel like just talk, honestly. Nigerians just want results and less hardship, so Tinubu’s time as president is going to be judged on what really changes in everyday life, not just big speeches.
