Okay, so ranked choice voting is basically a new way to vote where you rank your favorite candidates instead of picking just one. They count everybody's #1 choice first, and if no one wins a majority, they start dropping the last place people and counting your next picks until someone gets over 50%.

I've heard people say it's supposed to make democracy more fair because it gives smaller or third-party candidates a better shot. You aren't "wasting" your vote if your first choice doesn't win, which is cool. My civics teacher told me it can help stop super polarizing candidates from winning just because all the reasonable people split the vote.

But honestly, some people get confused by it. Like, my grandma says she'd rather just pick one person and be done. So while it could make democracy better by letting more voices be heard, it also has some people stressed out over the extra steps. I guess it depends if you think more choice means a better democracy or just a headache!
