So, FUBAR is actually slang for Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition. I bet the show uses it because things get pretty messy in the story, and not just a little bit. Like, the main guy, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, is a CIA agent who’s about to retire, but he gets called into one last super complicated mission. Basically, that’s the exact time in movies and shows when everything gets totally fubar – nothing goes to plan and everything is chaotic.
My dad thought it was hilarious when I told him that’s what FUBAR stands for, because apparently he used to hear it all the time in old war movies. It fits the show perfectly, since the plot puts the characters in a ton of crazy situations where you think, "Yup, this is totally fubar." I think it makes the title funnier and helps people understand right away that they’re in for a wild, not-so-serious action show. It gets your attention and tells you this isn’t your usual spy story. Give it a watch if you like wild missions and stuff blowing up!
