Yeah, I've been following the student loan forgiveness update news, and honestly, it's kinda wild right now. The biggest thing lately is about the PSLF Buyback program. So, only people in public service jobs, like teachers or government workers, are actually seeing a shot at total forgiveness if they hit that 120 payments mark. Regular folks outside of those jobs are still stuck dealing with the usual payment nightmare.

Apparently, the Department of Education got stuck because of lawsuits and court stuff, so a lot of forgiveness programs got paused or messed up last year. They just announced they're gonna restart processing those PSLF Buyback requests, which helps some people fix months where they were in forbearance or deferment, but only if they can "buy back" those months with extra payments.

So if you have a normal job and not a public service gig, you’re still mostly out of luck. I have a couple friends who thought total forgiveness was coming for everyone, and they’re super annoyed because nothing’s changed for them. It kinda stinks how these updates always look big in the news, but for a ton of students, it’s basically a non-update unless you work in qualifying jobs!
