Let me tell you, the New Jersey Transit strike has been a straight up disaster for businesses around here. My friend's dad owns a coffee shop near a train station and today he said sales dropped by like half since nobody's walking in from the morning trains. A ton of businesses in NYC count on people coming in from Jersey every single day, and now most of them can't even get there or have to pay big bucks to drive into the city because of the new congestion fees.
I was watching the news and they said this strike is costing some companies thousands by the day, just because workers aren't able to show up or they're working from home and can't do certain tasks. Plus, NJ Transit can't even use buses to cover all the people—those can only take like 20 percent of the normal crowd! That's wild. It's not just small businesses either, even big companies are hurting because meetings and deals are getting dropped. I've honestly never seen so many people stressed out all at once in the business community. If this keeps up, some places might have to cut hours or even shut down for a bit. It's a legit mess.
