Right off the bat, the whole Siminalayi Fubara suspension thing seems like classic Nigerian political drama. From what I’ve noticed, it wasn’t really about Fubara breaking any big law—it looked way more connected to power struggles within Rivers State. People are saying his supporters clashed with loyalists of Nyesom Wike, who’s now the FCT Minister. There was even a wild town hall in Port Harcourt with tons of shouting. Some groups accused Fubara’s team of causing the tension, while others said he was being set up for not following Wike’s orders. I’ve seen older folks around debate this a lot—they think it’s less about Fubara doing anything seriously wrong and more about political godfathers fighting for control. If you ask me, it feels less about the law and more about powerful dudes wanting their own people in charge, which is kinda common in Nigeria. So yeah, a lot of people don’t think it was fair—they just see it as the usual political powerplay. Pretty exhausting if you ask me, but that’s how it goes around here.
