From what I've seen, Simon Ekpa ended up on trial for terrorism in Finland because the Finnish authorities believe he used his social media presence to stir up violence and support for the Biafra secessionist movement in Nigeria's southeast. They claim he encouraged violent acts and might have even helped finance some of the militant stuff happening there. Finnish prosecutors say the evidence points to him actually helping plan or trigger violent events from abroad, which is super wild because he's not even in Nigeria. They're pushing for a six-year prison sentence, arguing that what he did breaks Finnish anti-terror laws, even if the stuff happened in another part of the world. Of course, Simon Ekpa totally denies all of it—he's like, "I'm not giving anyone weapons or telling people to be violent," but the court is looking at all his posts and connections. I guess it comes down to whether the court thinks posting stuff online counts as actually causing terror in real life. It's a seriously complicated legal mess, especially since he's kind of a political figure too.
