That's such a good question because honestly, it sounds a little weird at first. Siminalayi Fubara thanking President Tinubu after all the drama and his own suspension definitely feels like typical politics, but maybe it's more than that. From what I get, President Tinubu kind of acted like a referee when the crisis in Rivers State got out of hand. He stepped in to stop things from getting even more chaotic, which probably saved Fubara from something worse, like being totally thrown out without a chance to fight back.
Fubara probably wanted to show respect to Tinubu, partly to keep things smooth with the federal government and partly because, in Nigeria, it's good to have the president on your side when everyone else is gunning for you. He could also be trying to look mature and keep his supporters from getting too wild. In politics, sometimes thanking someone in public is just part of surviving. I remember politicians doing this my whole life—say thank you, even if you're not super happy about how things turned out, just to keep the peace. So yeah, it's politics, but it could also mean Fubara wants to look like the bigger person.
