Honestly, so many people complain about the NYSC requirements because they feel like the whole thing is just old school and doesn’t actually match what’s going on in Nigeria right now. I know when my cousin was about to graduate, she stressed out so much about whether her paperwork would be right, if her age would be okay, or if they’d accept her university. It feels like if you mess up a little, you get stuck or can’t even serve, and that means no government job later.
A lot of people think it’s too strict, especially with all the rules about age limits and approved schools. Like, my friend almost couldn’t participate just because her birthday was off by a couple months. She had to run around fixing documents for two weeks. And people argue that sometimes the service year doesn’t really do much except delay their actual plans. I honestly think NYSC needs to modernize. People want it to be fair, not some impossible hurdle you have to stress about for months. That’s just my take, but almost everyone I know has a story like that. Hope it gets better in the future!
