Honestly, it kind of surprised me when I heard Kroger shut down their home delivery service. You’d think everyone just wants stuff brought right to their door, right? But I read that since the COVID days, people actually chilled out a bit on ordering groceries online to their house. Back in the peak, like 40 percent of online grocery sales were just straight-up home delivery. Now it’s dropped to 19 percent. That’s a huge difference!

I’ve got a couple of friends who used to use Kroger Ship all the time, especially when they added extra stuff with Bed Bath & Beyond. But after a while, they started just doing pickup because it was faster and actually cheaper, especially for snacks or last-minute things. Also, big competitors like Walmart and Amazon already ruled that space and were just, like, better at it. Kroger probably realized they were losing money or it wasn’t growing like before.

So yeah, sometimes the easy option isn’t actually what people want forever! Grocery shopping goes back to old habits, and Kroger just decided to shut home delivery down and focus on pickup and regular delivery instead. Kinda wild, but I get it.
