Honestly, I was shocked at how crazy that Nuggets vs Thunder Game 7 turned out. The Thunder won 125-93 which is a straight-up beatdown for a playoff Game 7. From what I saw and read, the Thunder’s defense was just everywhere – they forced Denver into 22 turnovers, which is wild at this level. It felt like every time Denver tried to make a run, OKC would double them, strip the ball, or get a hand in the passing lane. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dropped 35 and was killing it, but honestly, it was that constant pressure and hustle that totally rattled the Nuggets.

But I don’t think you can ignore that the Nuggets were kinda falling apart too, especially near the end. Nikola Jokic couldn’t get any rhythm, and Jamal Murray looked frustrated. Also, Aaron Gordon was playing hurt with a bad hammy and barely looked like himself, which definitely didn’t help them.

So, yeah, I’d say it was a mix: the Thunder’s swarming D just destroyed Denver’s confidence and then Denver started beating themselves too. I remember watching and thinking, dang, they just can’t catch a break! That’s what makes playoff basketball so nuts – one team can totally take over when the stakes are high.
