Honestly, if you're freaked out about what's happening to your Discover credit card now that Capital One finished the big Discover merger, I totally get it. I remember when my old bank got taken over and everyone was buzzing about their money disappearing. But right now, things are actually kinda boring: you're supposed to keep making your payments just like before, either online or by mail, and all your auto-pays and subscriptions will still work without you touching anything.
What surprised me is that you don't suddenly get to walk into a Capital One branch and pay your Discover bill or anything like that. Both companies are basically saying, "Chill, nothing's really changing for you yet" and they're supposed to notify us way ahead of time if something does. But keep an eye out for updates, just so you don't get caught off guard in the future. I think they're being careful because nobody wants to mess up a bunch of people's credit cards overnight, you know? If I were you, I'd also check out the special website they made for the merger for the latest news.
So basically, for now, it's exactly like it was before. But who knows, maybe later things will start changing in ways we don't expect.
