Godwin nnadiekwe straight up called out the lack of safety on Nollywood sets after his accident. Honestly, I can't blame him. He mentioned on Instagram that there was no insurance or even real first aid while they were working, which just sounds super risky. Like, I remember when my cousin did some acting in a student film and even they had a nurse on set! It’s kinda wild that actual professionals don’t get the basics sometimes.
Godwin said actors should always follow the script, and he thinks producers need to get serious about protecting everyone. It's almost shocking they don’t have proper insurance, ‘cause one wrong move (like godwin’s situation) and things get real bad, real fast. I feel like his message might actually change things if more people start talking about it. He’s not wrong for wanting everyone to be safer. I totally agree with him – people shouldn’t have to risk their lives just for a movie. Geez, Nollywood needs a big upgrade in that department.
