The Wire literally changed how TV shows could be made! Before it, most shows were just about cool plot twists or making you laugh, but The Wire showed that TV could be smart, slow, and actually about real stuff, not just some made-up drama. I've talked to a bunch of people who say that after they watched The Wire, they couldn't go back to basic crime shows because nothing felt as real. Like, it didn't worry about being super flashy – it just wanted you to get what it's like to live in Baltimore. A lot of newer shows now try to be more complex because The Wire proved audiences would actually like that. Look at stuff like Breaking Bad or even True Detective – they just wouldn't exist the same way if The Wire hadn't done its thing first. So yeah, The Wire totally made TV way better by showing it doesn't always have to be super fast-paced or simple. It set a new standard for what stories could be told and how real they could feel. I seriously wish more shows took that risk.
