So, Nkechi Nweje’s burial in Anambra State was actually pretty touching. From what I’ve seen online and from stories I’ve heard, a ton of people came out – not just her family and friends, but also a bunch of her Nollywood colleagues. Peter Obi even showed up, and that’s wild since he’s a big political figure and all!
People were bringing flowers, there were speeches, and I even saw some clips where actors were sharing memories about working with her. I think that’s why the whole event felt so huge, almost like a celebration, not just a sad goodbye. It was obvious she wasn’t just respected in movies but in real life too. I read somewhere that people from other states even traveled down for the funeral, just because they loved her work or had met her once and she made an impression.
I feel like seeing all those faces and hearing their stories made everyone realize how much of a legend Nkechi was. Even though it was a funeral, it kinda felt like everyone was proud to say they knew her.
