The thought of the government raising the social security retirement age again honestly stresses me out. Like, right now the age just finished going up to 67 for people born in 1960 or after, but imagine if Congress decided to bump it to 68 or 70.

I’ve seen people say they think it's fair, since folks are living longer, but not everyone wants to work into their late 60s or 70s, especially those with tough jobs. If they raise the age, the biggest thing is that people would have to wait even longer to get full social security benefits. That could mess up tons of people’s retirement plans who thought 67 was set in stone.

Some experts keep saying any change would probably be slow so it doesn’t totally shock people close to retiring, but if you’re younger, you might just have to plan for working more years or saving extra. In my opinion, it's kind of unfair to keep moving the finish line, but it probably will come up again if money gets tight. Guess we just have to pay attention to politicians and what they decide to do.
