So, the massive $142 billion arms deal between Trump and Saudi Arabia feels like way more than just selling weapons. From what I've seen, it’s kinda about politics and business. Trump’s all about putting America first, but honestly, selling this many weapons ties the US and Saudi Arabia together in a major way.
I’ve got this sneaky feeling it’s also about making sure Saudi Arabia sticks with the US as an ally in the Middle East. Plus, there's a ton of money involved that helps US defense companies score big. Someone I know who’s super into this stuff pointed out that all the missile defense systems, space tech, and everything else are also meant to scare off Saudi Arabia’s enemies.
But yeah, it’s controversial. Tons of people think this just adds more chaos to an already crazy region. I read politicians are freaking out too, especially about the idea that the US could look like it’s supporting shady stuff Saudi Arabia might get up to. It just doesn’t seem like it’s only about defense—there’s definitely more going on under the surface, like using the deal to get the Saudis to spend big in the US and cementing Trump’s power moves globally.
