So Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Wike, used to be pretty close, but things went south fast. It's kind of like when best friends just totally stop talking because they can't agree on anything important. From everything I've read, Wike still wanted control even after he left, but Fubara was like, "I gotta do my own thing now." That made a lot of lawmakers choose sides, and even 27 assembly members switched parties!
Because of all this beef, the government basically stopped working for a while. Fubara couldn't even get into the assembly to present his budget, which is insane if you think about it. I heard local government elections got canceled too, and it just made everything worse.
If you ask me, the fight was really about power and respect. Wike wanted things done his way, but Fubara wanted to prove he was the real boss now. The sad part is, regular people in Rivers State paid the price with all that drama instead of seeing real changes or improvements. It's wild how politicians fighting can mess up a whole state.
