So I checked the latest schedules, and Portugal and France aren’t in the same group for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which means they aren't likely to play each other during qualifying. Portugal’s up against teams like Armenia, and France has Azerbaijan, so if they meet, it’ll probably be in the actual World Cup in USA, Canada, or Mexico in 2026. That’s when the drama could really happen.
What would make a Portugal vs France World Cup match extra epic is all the history they have. Like, seriously, Euro 2016 where Portugal upset France in their own backyard is still fresh for fans, and both sides have a bunch of young talents coming up. It would be a massive rematch, and who knows, maybe they’d even meet in the knockout stages or the final.
From what I’ve seen before, whenever these two teams clash in a big tournament, everyone watches. The pressure, the fans, and just imagining Ronaldo going up against Mbappé on a huge world stage is the kind of stuff you don’t forget! If it happens, I won’t miss it for anything.
