Honestly, it blows my mind how abacha's name is still everywhere when people discuss corruption in Nigeria, even 30 years after he died. I've noticed that every time someone talks about lost money, abacha's name gets dragged up. But after watching those interviews with Maryam Abacha, I get why people are divided. She straight up denied any wrongdoing by her husband and said the money people claim was meant for the country just vanished after he died.

Some folks think it's impossible for that much money to just disappear, so they keep blaming abacha. Others, especially from his region, feel like this whole thing could be about tribal or religious beef, not just facts. In my opinion, the government got some of the so-called Abacha loot back from places like France, which kinda looks suspicious if there was no loot in the first place. But then again, Maryam Abacha is demanding proof and saying there are no real witnesses. It just feels like the more people argue, the more confusing it gets, you know? Maybe that's why people can't stop bringing up his name – nobody really trusts the whole story.

It's like every Nigerian has their own version of what happened. That's probably why the abacha corruption talk never dies.
